Excellent Bass Fishing, Trout Fishing and some Walleye Fishing on ...
The "Grand River Rafting Company" offers guided drift boat fishing on platformed rafts down the Grand River in Paris, Ontario. Fishermen will find abundant smallmouth bass, fall/spring rainbow trout… as well as pike, walleye and big carp. All trips are very reasonably priced. A five hour guided fishing trip for two with lunch is $200 total with a platform raft. Drift boat rafting is the most satisfying experience for fishing the Grand & Nith Rivers. Two fishermen can stand on the platforms and do trout fly fishing or fly fishing for bass with lots of space. Or for those that bait cast, they can sit in deck chairs elevated above the water level to easily see striking fish. The best thing about raft platform fishing is that the speed of the raft allows excellent casting opportunities at each fishing pool.
Umpqua salmon fishing improving
Chinook salmon and coho have been caught in the Umpqua River estuary in the last couple of weeks. Upriver, smallmouth bass fishing has been reported as excellent in both the main Umpqua and the South Umpqua. On the North Umpqua, the summer steelhead fishing is improving. Following are reports from sources who deal with the fisheries on a daily basis. "I'm been hearing some pretty good reports about salmon being caught in the 101 bridge area. I've heard there have been some 30- to 40-pounders caught. Apparently the fish are in the bay. People are trolling herring for them. "The ocean has been rough for salmon fishing. "Up here in the Elkton area, the bass fishing has been really good, and there has been a few steelhead going through.
Fly Fishing Federation a great teaching group
Last week, Yours Truly was privileged to sit in on the fly tying workshop presented by members of the San Juan Fly Fishing Federation. Not only are Ray Hood, Willis Knight, and Jon Haxton great fly tiers, they are truly good people. In fact, I have been duly impressed with the Fly Fishing Federation as a whole. The entire group is friendly, plus they offer free fly fishing clinics, casting seminars, and tying demonstrations. And, they schedule monthly group fishing trips, volunteer to work with children and charitable projects while regularly having highway cleanup projects near the Quality Waters section on the San Juan River. The club is truly service-minded and the members' love for fly fishing shines brightly through every thing they do. It was not until recently, last winter in fact, that I joined the Federation.
