For years, the Division of Wildlife Resources, the U.S. Forest Service, other government and private agencies, along with interest angling groups have studied the possibility of placing native Bonneville cutthroat trout back into the Diamond Fork drainage. This restorative step with this sensitive species may keep it off the endangered species list and at the same time provide anglers with yet another quality high-mountain fishing opportunity. On August 16, 2006 a 21-mile section of the Diamond Fork River (beginning roughly 5 miles above the Palmyra Campground) was treated with rotenone to remove mainly brown trout from the water. This move was designed to give the cutthroats a fresh, competition free environment in which to reestablish its population. The natural poison was introduced via "drip barrels" placed strategically along the path of the river.

Nature has been very kind to the people of Kashmir. State of Jammu and Kashmir, with its diverse climatic zones is bestowed with vast and rich expanse of natural water bodies in the form of snow fed streams, rivers, lakes, sars, springs, marshy areas besides high altitude cold water lakes located at an elevation of above 12000feet. The fresh water aquaculture resources in the state comprise of 0.4 lakh kms, vast diversity of climate makes the state suitable for both cold and warm water fishery. Besides the state provides ample opportunity for sport fishery of world famous trout and Mahaseer.
Trout farming is one of the oldest forms of commercial fish production.
Umpqua salmon fishing improving
Chinook salmon and coho have been caught in the Umpqua River estuary in the last couple of weeks.
Upriver, smallmouth bass fishing has been reported as excellent in both the main Umpqua and the South Umpqua. On the North Umpqua, the summer steelhead fishing is improving.
Following are reports from sources who deal with the fisheries on a daily basis.
"I'm been hearing some pretty good reports about salmon being caught in the 101 bridge area. I've heard there have been some 30- to 40-pounders caught. Apparently the fish are in the bay. People are trolling herring for them.
"The ocean has been rough for salmon fishing.
"Up here in the Elkton area, the bass fishing has been really good, and there has been a few steelhead going through.
